Earlybird uses two delivery channels to tackle this challenge. Firstly, Earlybird partners with large corporates to provide\u00a0world-class, workplace-based ECD services on-site for their employees\u2019 children (we work\u00a0with children aged 4-months to 5-years). Secondly, Earlybird partners franchisees to set up community-based educare centres that implement our high-quality ECD offering. We use an innovative cross-subsidisation model to support the franchisees\u2019 fidelity to our education and administrative systems while ensuring that school fees remain affordable to families living in the immediate surrounds of their centre.\n\nAbout the Position\nWe are looking for a dynamic problem-solver capable of engaging in big-picture strategic thinking as well as detail-oriented implementation to join our team as a full-time Teaching Principal at one of our preschools in the Midrand area. We are targeting a total cost-to-company monthly\u00a0salary range of R16,000 \u2013 R20,000.\nThe successful candidate will take on the following core responsibilities (among other ad hoc contributions):\n\nGeneral responsibilities:\n\u25cf Establishing and maintaining relationships with local authorities such as social workers,\u00a0Department of Social Development representatives, Department of Education, fire and health services inspectors and working together with them to meet their requirements.\n\u25cf Attend EXCO meetings, submitting progress reports to head office and EXCO.\n\nEnrolment responsibilities:\n\u25cf Enrol children and keep an up-to-date and accurate waiting list.\n\u25cf Interview prospective parents and have a sound knowledge of the school functions and\u00a0processes to share with parents.\n\u25cf Orientate new parents and children.\n\nSupervising curriculum\n\u25cf Provide direction and supervision to staff in setting objectives in line with Earlybird\u2019s Learning Outcomes\n\u25cf Provide up-to-date information on curriculum issues.\n\u25cf Develop and guide teaching team in developing and submitting new activities.\n\nFinancial responsibilities:\n\u25cf Work with the Operations Director to:\n\u25cb Set and submit monthly budgets.\n\u25cb Control finances within a set budget.\n\u25cb Prepare and submit monthly reports on income and expenditures.\n\u25cf Manage petty cash and daily needs.\n\nAsset and equipment responsibilities:\n\u25cf Manage and maintain physical assets of the school by monitoring use and care of the users.\n\u25cf Manage responsible usage of consumables.\n\u25cf In association with the Operations Director plan and assess the needs of the school.\n\u25cf Keep records of usage, breakages, quality and lifespan of assets.\n\u25cf Submit asset and consumable needs to the Operations Director on a monthly basis.\n\nStaff and team leadership responsibilities:\n\u25cf Aid in recruitment processes.\n\u25cf Aid in new staff orientation.\n\u25cf Prepare and submit job descriptions for new staff acquisitions to the Training and School Management Director.\n\u25cf Implement personnel policies\n\u25cf Provide a continuing assessment of staff development needs.\n\u25cf Provide continuous in-service training for staff.\n\u25cf Encourage team work and involvement by coordinating team building events and activities.\n\u25cf Meet with team members to resolve conflicts, parent concerns, teaching concerns, classroom concerns, etc.\n\u25cf Keep staff attendance up to date.\n\nAbout You\n\u25cf Minimum of three years\u2019 work experience in an ECD centre.\n\u25cf Hold a Bachelor's degree in Foundation Phase or ECD.\n\u25cf Possess strong people-management and team-work skills.\n\u25cf Comfortable taking on a leadership role and the demands that go along with that role.\n\u25cf Able to see the big picture, adapting to each situation as it arises.\n\u25cf Service oriented.\n\u25cf Good at planning and organising.\n\u25cf Empathetic and sociable.\n\u25cf Highly diplomatic.\n\u25cf Skilled in identifying problems and brainstorming potential solutions, as well as\u00a0effectively implementing solutions.\n\u25cf Excellent at written and oral communication as well as presentation.\n\u25cf Passionate about connecting with teachers and students.\n\u25cf Personable, reliable, organised, motivated by impactful work.\n\u25cf A creative problem-solver who is undaunted by the inevitable challenges that will crop\u00a0up as we work to break new ground in South Africa\u2019s under-developed Early Childhood\u00a0Development sector.\n\u25cf Willing to travel to Midrand.
