GIRLS’ PREPARATORY

Our primary intention is to educate and empower girls, raising them in ways that are responsive to the challenges unique to women. We aim to be the leaders in girls’ education, with the focus on nurturing individual skills and dispositions, equipping girls to engage confidently and with a sense of purpose. Our girls work within a values-based framework in order to make decisions with good intent. The South African context is diverse and dynamic. We raise girls to embrace their heritage and collaborate locally to make a significant contribution nationally and internationally.

Art Teacher

The Girls’ Preparatory invites applications for the above-mentioned position which will be available from 1 January 2021.
We are looking for an Art Specialist, suitably qualified and experienced to work in a vibrant, nurturing and innovative educational environment. Additionally, we require a person who understands the role creativity and design thinking can play in STEAM education, and who has a passion to see girls and women advance in this field. Our teaching and learning environment is team driven, and the applicant must be prepared to collaborate and bring an artist’s perspective to the overall curriculum across Grades 3-7. Experience in Inquiry Based Learning and time spent teaching in an international environment would be a distinct advantage. The requirements for this position are:

• Relevant specialist degree from a recognised institution
• Experience in teaching IsiZulu would be an advantage
• A SAQA accredited or equivalent teaching qualification
• A sound knowledge of a variety of curricula, including CAPS
• A thorough understanding of diverse pedagogical approaches and experience in applying them in the classroom
• A willingness and ability to integrate the latest technology into your teaching and the girls’ learning
• An unequivocal commitment to working as part of an accomplished team
• A flexible and responsive attitude to change
• A commitment to specific continual personal and professional development endeavours
• A fundamentally future-oriented approach to teaching and learning
• Proof of registration with SACE and a sexual offender’s clearance certificate
• An awareness of the nature of the school and willingness to commit to its all-round ethos, co-curricular
activities and pastoral approach
• A willingness to work within the Methodist Church based ethos of the College
